How To Integrate Alia with Attentive

Email and SMS marketing tools, such as Attentive, are vital for any e-commerce business. This week, we introduced the Alia x Attentive integration. This feature can automatically send subscriber contact information and event data collected by Alia to Attentive. In this post, we will guide you through the simple steps to set up this integration and explain how it can increase your sign-up and conversion rates more effectively than other popups.

Step 1: Install Alia

If you haven’t already, install Alia from the Shopify app store, being sure to set up the popup to maximize user engagement and sign up rate.

With a 5.0 star rating and Built for Shopify status, Alia has impressed merchants with its significant impact on sign up and conversion rates, as well as excellent customer support and seamless integrations with SMS marketing tools like Attentive.

Step 2: Authorize Alia to access your Attentive account

To automatically create subscribers when a user signs up on Alia, you’ll need to authorize Alia to interact with Attentive on your behalf.

To do this, open Alia in Shopify Admin, and navigate to the Integrations page in the side menu:

Under Attentive, click the green button that says “Connect”. You’ll be redirected to Attentive, where you need to authorize Alia to use the API on your behalf:

You’ll then be redirected back to Shopify Admin, where you’ll be prompted to enter your Attentive sign up source ID:

Attentive requires you to enter your sign up source ID so that sign ups through Alia can be correctly attributed.

To find this ID, return to Attentive and navigate to the Sign-up Units page. At the bottom, you’ll see two sign-up units, one for “Transactional API” and one for “Marketing API”. Highlight and copy the Marketing API ID:

Then, return to Alia and paste the ID into the text box, and click Save.

That’s it — you’ve successfully integrated Alia with Attentive!

How it works

Alia integrates with Attentive in a few key ways.

  1. When users sign up through Alia, the user’s contact info will automatically be entered into Attentive as a subscriber.
  2. When a user claims a reward, an event will be created for that user in Attentive, containing details about the award like the discount code and expiration time. You can use these details to send retargeting emails to customers that haven’t used their discount yet.
  3. When a user answers a poll, an event will be created containing the question and answer text. You can use this event to segment subscribers based on their interests and backgrounds.
